I've finally found it...after years of not-so-active searching, I'm being proactive and putting all my creative energy into one venue...INTERIOR DESIGN (or "decorating", depending on my mood.)
I've always been "artsy" and had that "creative flair"...but only recently have I begin really using that talent...and recognizing it IS in fact a true talent or gift was the first step.
I spent years as a photographer...and while I still find great joy in taking pictures, it seems as of late that the only pictures I take are "before" and "after" shots of my work. (and work it is....just ask my husband how wrapped up in my creative endeavors I can get!)
So...one may ask how I justify calling myself an interior designer when I have no fancy-pants degree framed on the wall to back up my claims. Well, as I'm realizing, just doing what I do--what I love--and having others take notice (and even want to pay me) for what I do is enough to start with!
I've been asked "how" I do things...from picking out colors to knowing where to place furniture in a room...well, to me, in my own little mind, it just makes sense. I just follow my gut instinct...trust myself...and GO FOR IT! Its quite simple, really...I have a picture in my mind of what I want, and I make it happen. Somehow...someway...I MAKE IT HAPPEN.
...and I'm not afraid of taking chances.
Below are just a few pictures of my own home to get this page going...I will add many more in the days and weeks to come, and also begin to tackle my ever-growing collection of "before & after" shots. Customizing furniture is a great love of mine...I've likely painted or modified in some way just about all the firniture you see in all the photographs of my home.
Take a look...and let me know what you think. Again--these are just a few to get things going...
